|The proposed development of Fort Halstead and its surrounding land is a matter of concern to the Parish Council. At this time the owners of the site, Hines UK, has not submitted a planning application but has embarked on various consultations with District Councillors and local people.
A Working Group has been formed which is made up of two representatives from Halstead, Dunton Green, Knockholt and Shoreham Parish Councils. The purpose of the FHWG is to looking to all matters appertaining to the site in readiness to tackle the planning application when it arrives.
An observer from each of Chevening, Otford and Riverhead Parish Councils also attends
Simon O'Donnell, Project Director of Hines UK owners of the site, has given a presentation to members of the Working Group and councillors from Halstead, Chevening, Dunton Green, Knockholt, Otford, Riverhead and Shoreham Parish Councils.
Three presentations and workshop were held during April and May of this year at Fort Halstead . Parishioners from the surrounding parishioners were invited.
7102 invitations were sent out: approximately 750 people attended.

Hines UK anticipates that a planning application will be lodged in March 2009 and that the Master Plan for the site should be ready by end 2008.
Hines UK has prepared a brochure outlining its aspirations for the site.

Members of the Working Group have also held meetings with both SDC Planning staff and the Local Development Framework Policy team, to discuss how current planning legislation applies to the Fort, and how it may potentially change in the future, within the LDF.
The Parish Council will keep parishioners fully informed on this matter.
