We have been approached by the Kent Federation of Horticultural Societies for help with knitting or crocheting poppies. These are for a display of handmade poppies in and around the marquee at the Kent County Show in July to mark the centenary of the end of the First World War. Patterns for knitting/crocheting poppies are available. Halstead & District Horticultural Society’s point of contact for this is Jean Peel so please give Jean a call on 01959 533180 if you would like to get involved.
The concert this year will be held really close to Christmas on Sunday, December 23rd at 7.30 p.m. (doors open at 7 p.m.). As usual the venue will be St.Margaret’s Church, Church Road, Halstead, TN14 7HQ. Tickets will be £15 each, to include a glass of wine and a mince pie. They will be on sale from Monday, October 1st at Hancocks Village Store, or from the Box Office at (01959) 532361 or 01689 857209. We recommend that you buy your tickets early to avoid disappointment - we have to restrict the numbers due to the availability of seating in the church. Payment may be made by cash or by cheque in favour of “St. Margaret’s PCC” as the concert will be raising funds for St. Margaret’s Church. Thanks for your past support and we hope to see you again this year.
